Hi,
Welcome to 'Bottom Fishing', my investing blog and trading diary.
I have been investing in UK stocks and shares for over 20 years, sometimes successfully, sometimes not!
My strategy is contrarian and techno-fundamental, using a mixture of selection criteria to buy stocks in UK companies, either listed on the main exchange or AIM.
I will consider anything with a market cap of 50 million or more and use charts to identify longer term trading opportunities.
Signals I use include; oversold monthly Stochastics, areas of long term support, return on assets, valuation, debt and dividend.
I hold the shares in an ISA and SIPP for anywhere between a few months and a few years. My goal is to generate enough income through investing to be financially free.
This website was created for a bit of fun and to follow my progress.

Happy New Year
Markets:
The FTSE had a supprisingly good month in Decemnber adding around 300 points and making new highs for the year at over 7400.
So, the uptrend remains in tact.
Portfolio highlights:
AV.
Aviva has had a nice bounce back to test recent highs. I'm not sure whether to take profits here or wait for further upside?
The tecnicals say sell and the fundamentals say buy???
CNA
Centrica has continued its upward run most likely due to the recent gas price hike and consolidation accross the market.
Approaching a sell but this will likely be at a loss.
Buys:
New Positions:
None.
Top Ups:
RR. - @ 124p
I have found it hard to analyse the fundamentals for Rolls Royce but theres not a week goes by without some positive news or a new contract win.
Target = upwards of 150p and preferably closer to 200p.
Sells:
VCT - 2328p
The long term uptrend is hard to argue with but I felt it was over valued for now so sold out.
I will watch for a re-entry back down around 2000p

Watchlist
I normally update my watchlist every weekend and pick out any shares with oversold monthly stochastics or at a level of support / trendline.
I make a note of these to do a bit more research on and possibly take an initial position if all the ducks line up.
Here's the shares I'm currently looking at that could be potential buys.
They need to go through fundamental checks before timing entry on a shorter timeframe.
Of course, you must always do your own research before buying or selling any share. These are just my ideas, and remember, 'I buy losers'.
